As a true advocate for our English Language Learners and their families, Ms. Howell helps students and families understand the importance of education and makes certain they have the resources needed to be successful. Outside of classroom instruction, strategy support for teachers, testing, and parent contacts, she also hosts our families and students at an in-school activity where they also receive important information.

She works with our Professional Learning Communities and Problem-Solving Team to make sure appropriate support is put into place when necessary. Ms. Howell serves on our School Improvement Team and participates in data analysis, brainstorming, and problem solving to help West Clayton Elementary School continue to improve.

She keeps her students engaged by using different strategies and techniques. This is not only creative, but it also ensures that students are able to exhibit skills in isolation and apply them in many ways.
Most probably do not realize that Ms. Howell has a pretty long drive to get to and from school each day. They wouldn't know because when the doors to the school are open, Ms. Howell is there - ready and willing to do whatever she can to be of service to our school and community.

She steps up to help her colleagues as needed with instructional technology or ideas on how best to connect with certain students. Her creativity allows her students to express themselves in-person or when online and in virtual learning in Google Classroom.
As a military spouse, Mrs. Berry has to contend with the challenge of her husband going abroad periodically for military service while being a stellar example in her classroom.
Congratulations Mrs. Barry and thank you for your service to our students and our Clayton community.

Your Marketing Page, Founded 2017 - Tony Molinaro
Describe what your organization provides for its customers:
We like to consider ourselves a "Boutique Marketing Company", big enough to make a difference and small enough to provide that personal touch. We specialize in website design, Marketing Pages, lead generation, digital marketing and advertising.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique:
As Internet Marketers for over 20 years, we understand the struggles when it comes to building a successful business. Our recommendation for anyone who is a real estate agent or in network marketing is to stop using your corporate website! Too many times individuals promote a company's corporate website and wind up losing sales. A personalized landing page or what we like to referrer them as a “Marketing Page” is a must have for anyone in business today, especially if you are a real estate agent or in network marketing. Customers are searching “you” online - not the corporation. Believe it or not, there are 3.5 billion searches on Google per day. Someone online is searching for your exact service. Guess who’s getting their business?
People who visit your website expect immediate gratification, which means visitors should be able to answer 3 questions within 3 seconds of landing on your website: Who are you? - What do you do/offer? - How do I contact you?
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
Joining the Clayton Chamber Of Commerce. Late last year we became members of the CCOC and our goal this year is to participate and be more active within the community.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
This year we are planing on growing our business and clientele by 25% and also be able to add more marketing solutions for our clients.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
Starting a business takes time. Lots of people dream about being an entrepreneur or having their own business but don't give it enough time or they run out of money. I remember when we opened our first restaurant, we had enough money in the bank to pay for all our expenses just in case we did not get a customer for 6 months. MY recommendations for new business owners are:

- Get a part time job at a business similar to what you plan on launching

- Purchase your unique Domain Name for your business and LOCK IN all the social media channels of your business name.
- Tell EVERYBODY about your new business

Fairway Mortgage, Mortgage Advisor - Shawna Clark
Describe what your organization provides for its customers
I help people achieve the dream of home ownership. I work with a full range of clients, from first time home buyers to buyers wanting to purchase investment properties and refinance their current home.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique
I became a Mortgage Advisor in 2018 because I wanted to help people achieve the dream of home ownership. Owning a home is a major step toward building wealth and it can be achieved as long as there is an understanding of what it takes to get there. Many of my clients are first time home buyers and are unfamiliar with the process and requirements to get approved for a home loan. To help with this I host several Home Buyer Seminars throughout the year. The seminars provide future buyers the opportunity to learn the process and get their questions answered in a relaxed environment. I partner with other industry professionals for the seminar to provide insight on the entire home buying process.
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
In the last couple of months I have been able to help families use the equity in their home to consolidate debt. Eliminating hundreds of dollars from their monthly expenses gives them the opportunity to breath and live more comfortably. It is rewarding for me knowing that I helped make a difference for them.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
In the next 12 months, I hope to continue to be a resource in regards to if now is time to buy or refinance a home. For many families using the equity in their home may be the best option to consolidate debt, do renovations or invest in rental property. I look forward to helping them understand their options and how they can use what they have to get what they want.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
Get involved in the community. Clayton is a wonderful place to be a small business owner. It’s filled with opportunity and support you just have to get out there and get involved. Find a mentor or coach. You don’t have to navigate things on your own.

A lot of times that means doing things that other agents won't do, like paying for repairs, or even doing the repairs myself, cleaning, painting, helping clients move; whatever it takes.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique:
I am passionate about real estate, helping others, and serving my community. My most rewarding work in real estate has been helping those going through a life change – whether that is a relocation, a new job, marriage, divorce, or death in the family – I have lots of experience dealing with these very challenging situations and I welcome the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life. I have also been coaching people on becoming investors and landlords and how to create an investment portfolio. I believe that real estate can be an extraordinary investment with very little risk if you know what you’re doing.
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
This year I have been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, as well as the NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation. Serving my community and finding meaningful ways to give back is becoming a focus of mine. Availability of affordable housing is an issue in our area, and I want to help solve that problem, in addition to supporting my fellow local business owners who provide jobs for our residents. Clayton is such a special place to live and we want to continue to attract more businesses and newcomers here, while preserving our small-town quality of life.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
My husband and I have been investing in rental properties as part of our retirement strategy, and this year we plan to purchase our 5th one. We open the doors to our rentals to people who may not be able to find a nice home to rent otherwise - due to having low credit scores, large dogs, etc. I also plan to earn my Workforce Housing Specialist Designation and increase awareness of the support that is available to the aspiring homeowners in our community.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
My best advice is a quote from Jim Rohn – “Don’t wish it was easier - wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems - wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge - wish for more wisdom.” And then go out and make yourself better - get the wisdom and skills that it takes and don’t let anyone stop you!

We offer comprehensive packages with payroll processing that includes quarterlies, W2’s, new hire reporting, agency checks and direct deposit. Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique?
Diversified Payroll Solutions is a family-owned business with a home base in Pennsylvania, but we expanded to Clayton, NC in December of last year. We are always doing training with our payroll specialists to ensure our clients have the most up to date services. Having four payroll specialists and three accountants on hand here in Clayton, each client is getting a personal experience, direct contact and a knowledge base to help ensure your payroll service is running smoothly.
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
Expanding! When I was given the opportunity to move to North Carolina with my fiancé, the owners have also gave me the opportunity to take the business with me. Being here in Clayton for about one year has been so rewarding.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
We hope that in the next year we can continue to expand and help more local businesses with their payroll needs. With our knowledge and services, we want to allow businesses to focus on their bottom line and not worry about the next payroll submission.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
Patience and confidence. While I have 13 years of experience in payroll and 11 of those years with Diversified Payroll Solutions, starting in a new area can be frightening. Always lean back on your knowledge and expertise and the rest will fall into place!
