Chris Pappas Illustration - Founded by Chris Pappas in 1985
Describe what your organization provides for its customers
A select group of people will use my digital illustration for advertising agencies and corporate accounts. Everyone else can purchase nature illustrations, both originals and prints, for all kinds of gifts. I also create professional pen and ink renderings of homes, large and small, as house warming gifts, as well as architectural drawings for historical societies.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique
I have been working as a professional artist since 1985 when I started freelancing as an illustrator. At that time conventional artwork was all there was and I specialized in pen and ink art. My client list consisted of McDonalds, Wendy's, Heileman Brewing, Kraft and many more. After the late 90's it all transitioned to computer art and now I work for clients including Grainger and Siemens. Before I became an illustrator drawing and painting were my focus. This is where I developed my fine art skills, which I love more than anything.
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
Before my wife and I moved to Clayton a couple of years ago, I spent my entire life in the suburbs of Chicago and was established with my fine art, and digital work, but after moving here it has been a reboot getting my artwork out there doing private shows, farmer's markets, and private commissions. It's a lot of work starting over, but very rewarding too.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
My advertising work is established across the country but in 12 months I'd like to be known in this part of North Carolina as the butterfly artist through my drawings and paintings.
Any other information you would like to add about your business?
To see my artwork please visit my website. Everything I am doing is visual, and the best way to see my artwork is through my website. https://pappasart.com

As the owner of Heart2Hands Art Gallery and Studios, I would like to share that I have my BFA from MD institute college of Art; interior design major and ASID professional, which I practiced for over 15 years. In the 90’s, our active sketching was over taken with CAD assisted drawings. This change, some major health issues had me rethink the plan. I started to paint with watercolors for therapy. It became something I loved. My Dad an oil painter, so I started my creative ways at age five. The feeling I have making art brings me the closest to my roots. So why not support others to their “feel good ways!” We try to spread peace and joy through our loved art!

Elite Travel Planners - Founded in 2004 by Michael Pagliocca
Describe what your organization provides for its customers:
We are a full service Travel Agency providing personalized travel planning for our clients. We have visited the destinations, toured the properties and have experienced the excursions. We know the Sales and General Managers, helping to ensure a wonderful, memorable stay. Whether a Caribbean, Alaskan or Mediterranean cruise, an all inclusive resort vacation, immersive travel with wine and cheese tastings in Italy, a pastry class in Paris or speaking with a vendor at a local market in Barcelona, we plan it all for you. We give you back time while providing value. Travelers more than ever want an immersive experience.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique:
I have owned Elite Travel Planners for 17 years and have been planning travel for approximately 40 years. Our service, coupled with our experience and providing the best rates and value, bring clients back to us for decades for their travel plans! Planning travel, although not unique is very exciting, both for our clients and for us. Experiences...Yes, sitting poolside at a tropical resort or visiting the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower or Acropolis is wonderful. However, again, the immersive experiences such as Zip Lining near the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica, hand picking grapes from a vineyard in Italy, Germany or France, Interacting with locals at a Christmas Market in Europe - This is what travel is all about. We want you to live your list, not just put it in a bucket!
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
The last 15 months have been and continue to be challenging times for most. As the line between work and home becomes more blurred as people work from home more due to Covid-19, the need to travel and fully recharge is becoming more important. Clients are again booking cruises/river cruises, getting ready for that all inclusive beach vacation, planning visits to Ireland, Scotland, etc, to re-trace their roots. They are taking the family on that Disney cruise or to Disney World. We are finding that many want to visit destinations that are new to them. With more and more destinations re-opening, I expect that later in 2021, 2022 and beyond will explode with requests to travel.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
We are very excited and optimistic about the immediate future. The desire to travel is very strong. Again, I expect more immersive travel, multi-generational travel and more group travel. Cruising in general, especially to Alaska, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean will be back stronger than before.
Any other information you would like to add about your business?
Honestly, it is all about our service and experience. Our team will hold the client's hands the entire way as we plan their special getaway. My associates are all well traveled, very knowledgeable/experienced and focused on our clients needs and desires.

Your Marketing Page, Founded 2017 - Tony Molinaro
Describe what your organization provides for its customers:
We like to consider ourselves a "Boutique Marketing Company", big enough to make a difference and small enough to provide that personal touch. We specialize in website design, Marketing Pages, lead generation, digital marketing and advertising.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique:
As Internet Marketers for over 20 years, we understand the struggles when it comes to building a successful business. Our recommendation for anyone who is a real estate agent or in network marketing is to stop using your corporate website! Too many times individuals promote a company's corporate website and wind up losing sales. A personalized landing page or what we like to referrer them as a “Marketing Page” is a must have for anyone in business today, especially if you are a real estate agent or in network marketing. Customers are searching “you” online - not the corporation. Believe it or not, there are 3.5 billion searches on Google per day. Someone online is searching for your exact service. Guess who’s getting their business?
People who visit your website expect immediate gratification, which means visitors should be able to answer 3 questions within 3 seconds of landing on your website: Who are you? - What do you do/offer? - How do I contact you?
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
Joining the Clayton Chamber Of Commerce. Late last year we became members of the CCOC and our goal this year is to participate and be more active within the community.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
This year we are planing on growing our business and clientele by 25% and also be able to add more marketing solutions for our clients.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
Starting a business takes time. Lots of people dream about being an entrepreneur or having their own business but don't give it enough time or they run out of money. I remember when we opened our first restaurant, we had enough money in the bank to pay for all our expenses just in case we did not get a customer for 6 months. MY recommendations for new business owners are:

We have recently stabilized our occupancy after being open for a year, and we plan to break ground on a new phase later this year which will add 120 apartments to the community. We are also working on deals for the commercial and retail parcels that are available. The State Employees Credit Union is near completion, and we are working on a Mexican restaurant that will open later this year.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
We hope to see the community fully occupied, and look forward to many more commercial and retail opportunities on the property. We look forward to offering more shopping and dining to not only our residents, but the residents of East Clayton as the area continues to grow and prosper!
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
Do as much market research as possible for trends in your area, as well as trends in several of the surrounding cities. Focus groups are a great source of insight as to what customers are looking for in this new day and age. Work closely with the Chamber of Commerce as they prove to be a valuable resource for networking and advertising. Beyond anything, customer service is key!!

Fairway Mortgage, Mortgage Advisor - Shawna Clark
Describe what your organization provides for its customers
I help people achieve the dream of home ownership. I work with a full range of clients, from first time home buyers to buyers wanting to purchase investment properties and refinance their current home.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique
I became a Mortgage Advisor in 2018 because I wanted to help people achieve the dream of home ownership. Owning a home is a major step toward building wealth and it can be achieved as long as there is an understanding of what it takes to get there. Many of my clients are first time home buyers and are unfamiliar with the process and requirements to get approved for a home loan. To help with this I host several Home Buyer Seminars throughout the year. The seminars provide future buyers the opportunity to learn the process and get their questions answered in a relaxed environment. I partner with other industry professionals for the seminar to provide insight on the entire home buying process.
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
In the last couple of months I have been able to help families use the equity in their home to consolidate debt. Eliminating hundreds of dollars from their monthly expenses gives them the opportunity to breath and live more comfortably. It is rewarding for me knowing that I helped make a difference for them.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
In the next 12 months, I hope to continue to be a resource in regards to if now is time to buy or refinance a home. For many families using the equity in their home may be the best option to consolidate debt, do renovations or invest in rental property. I look forward to helping them understand their options and how they can use what they have to get what they want.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
Get involved in the community. Clayton is a wonderful place to be a small business owner. It’s filled with opportunity and support you just have to get out there and get involved. Find a mentor or coach. You don’t have to navigate things on your own.

Angelina Corroo - HomeTowne Realty
Describe what your organization provides for its customers:
As a Full-time REALTOR® I serve the Greater Triangle area and have a wide range of expertise from new construction to resales, and first-time home buyers to investment properties. I am a top producing agent and I know how to get results. A lot of times that means doing things that other agents won't do, like paying for repairs, or even doing the repairs myself, cleaning, painting, helping clients move; whatever it takes.
Give us a brief history of your business and what makes it unique:
I am passionate about real estate, helping others, and serving my community. My most rewarding work in real estate has been helping those going through a life change – whether that is a relocation, a new job, marriage, divorce, or death in the family – I have lots of experience dealing with these very challenging situations and I welcome the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life. I have also been coaching people on becoming investors and landlords and how to create an investment portfolio. I believe that real estate can be an extraordinary investment with very little risk if you know what you’re doing.
What is the most exciting recent highlight for your business?
This year I have been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, as well as the NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation. Serving my community and finding meaningful ways to give back is becoming a focus of mine. Availability of affordable housing is an issue in our area, and I want to help solve that problem, in addition to supporting my fellow local business owners who provide jobs for our residents. Clayton is such a special place to live and we want to continue to attract more businesses and newcomers here, while preserving our small-town quality of life.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
My husband and I have been investing in rental properties as part of our retirement strategy, and this year we plan to purchase our 5th one. We open the doors to our rentals to people who may not be able to find a nice home to rent otherwise - due to having low credit scores, large dogs, etc. I also plan to earn my Workforce Housing Specialist Designation and increase awareness of the support that is available to the aspiring homeowners in our community.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?
My best advice is a quote from Jim Rohn – “Don’t wish it was easier - wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems - wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge - wish for more wisdom.” And then go out and make yourself better - get the wisdom and skills that it takes and don’t let anyone stop you!

Expanding! When I was given the opportunity to move to North Carolina with my fiancé, the owners have also gave me the opportunity to take the business with me. Being here in Clayton for about one year has been so rewarding.
Where do you hope to see your business in 12 months?
We hope that in the next year we can continue to expand and help more local businesses with their payroll needs. With our knowledge and services, we want to allow businesses to focus on their bottom line and not worry about the next payroll submission.
What advice would you offer to someone starting their own small business?

Why choose a Chamber business?
Support Chamber businesses. The businesses in our directory are businesses in the Clayton, NC and surrounding areas that not only "do business" here, but have also taken the extra step by investing in the Clayton Chamber of Commerce's mission (to champion business, economic development, and education in Clayton, NC). They show community leadership through engagement in Chamber events/activities, committees, task forces, and other initiatives. By supporting these businesses, you play a key role in Clayton's economic growth. Look for a CCOC investor decal, ask us, or search our online business directory for our investors.
